According to this story in Mashable it looks like a small number of extremely dumb and terrible people aren’t going to see Star Wars Rogue One when it comes out later this month.
If you look at the source article sparked all their ire it simply says:
“Chris Weitz tweeted the following Friday morning: “Please note that the Empire is a white supremacist (human) organization.” Gary Whitta, the original writer on the project, responded in kind, tweeting: “Opposed by a multi-cultural group led by brave women.”
A description of that would indeed make an organizatinon (real or fictitious) pretty evil at its core.
These people are mad because calling out being evil as being, well, evil makes them angry.
How dare these writers have an opinion about groups wanting to oppress and kill people for being different as being a bad character trait.
I don’t think we’re living in a “post-truth” time in history, I think we’re living in a time where morons feel empowered by other morons.
It’s like the internet has enabled the feeble-minded to seek out and find each other and then band together to put forth most idiotic beliefs, opinions and behaviors they possibly can.
I’m 100% sure, but I think Star Wars and the rest of the world will be just fine without them or movie ticket dollars this holiday season.
To me, this whole thing is just another reason I’m looking forward to seeing it.
Here’s the original THR article (from almost a month ago) that these dingbats are attempting to stir up false controversy about: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/rogue-one-is-a-political-allegory-tease-writers-946638
